Cookie Policy

What are cookies?
Cookies (and similar technologies like browser local storage) are small pieces of data a website stores on your device. Some are required for the site to function; others help us understand how the site is used.
What we use
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supabase auth session | Keeps you signed in between visits (stored in browser local storage, not a traditional cookie, but serves the same purpose) | Essential — always on | Until you sign out |
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics — distinguishes visitors and sessions so we can see aggregate usage patterns | Analytics — only after you accept | Up to 2 years |
uksh_cookie_consent | Remembers your cookie preference so we don't ask again every visit | Essential — always on | 1 year |
Essential vs analytics
Essential: required for core features like staying signed in. These can't be switched off, but they don't track you across other websites and we don't use them for advertising.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4): optional. Helps us understand which pages are useful and where students are getting stuck. We do not send your name, email, phone number, or the content of anything you submit to Google Analytics — only anonymised page-view and interaction data.
Managing your preference
When you first visit, you'll see a cookie banner where you can Accept all or Reject non-essential cookies. You can change your mind at any time using the button below — it clears your saved choice and shows the banner again.
You can also control cookies at the browser level — see aboutcookies.org for instructions for your specific browser.
Third-party cookies
Google Analytics sets its own cookies once you've consented. See Google's cookie policy for detail on what they collect.
